The reason why I’m getting this kit instead of some of the other ones is because I heard the 18-55mm EF-S lens isn’t a great lens, and this kit comes with some other ones. I’m not really sure, though, because I’m a beginner. Is this kit too advanced for me?

I found this on Amazon. I’m not from US or Canada so I plan to have it shipped to my friend’s address in Seattle. I’ll pay though credit card. Is it a good idea to purchase online when I’m overseas? The same model here is twice the price. What’s the reasonable amount to pay for the model above?
I’m also wary because I don’t know much about cameras. I’ve read here that some cameras for sale online are scams, meaning not fully or truthfully advertised. I want a standard kit, for a nice enough camera, beginner entry level. Is the model below good?http://www.amazon.com/Canon-Digital-Came…
I’m still choosing between this or the Nikon D80. Is the D80 more expensive? It’s so confusing!!! Thanks in advance for great tips. I really appreciate it. Who thought buying cameras will be this tough

I want to upgrade to a lense that has a better zoom yet can still offer wide format shots. Does anyone suggest a lense that will be a good upgrade yet still cost effective?
Also, I need to upgrade the flash, does anyone know a good cheap flash that iwll work well with this camera? I’m a NEWB when it comes to photography and such, thanks in advance.

This website gives you the comparison between d80, rebel xti and Alpha A100D….but, I am sure you will make up u’r mind for d80 after that. Although the d40x is a good entry level camera, it doesn’t have a built in lens motor.
