If your looking to buy a flash for a amatuer photgrapher, THIS is the one. It doesn't have many bells and whistles. Doesn't tilt side to side, etc... But it works, and for the price, thats all that counts. Will take a few days to get used to taking pictures with this particular flash, but hey.... they all have a 'learning curve'.

If you cant spend over 300 dollars on a flash, look no further, this is the best one in your budget. I spent weeks researching these before buying this one for my wife.
Great first flash unit, save $$$ for lenses!

Reviewer: Pam,
I'm using this Opteka Flash on my Rebel XSi, and couldn't be happier with the quality of my indoor pics. The flash doesn't rotate like the Speedlite by Canon, but it does tilt (5 positions), allowing for a little more freedom to bounce your flash if you are willing to play with it a little or adjust flash exposure settings too. I'm an amateur/hobbyist at digital photography, but wanted a little more than the built in flash on the Rebel. I'm glad I spent my money on this flash and can put more money into a good lens.
The Opteka flash is functional, no-frills, and light on the wallet.
Recommended for others just starting out with their digital SLRs.
Bargain

Yes it is plastic and very light but functions well with the Canon 10D. The bounce feature makes it a bargain at the price. A great starter flash for my son's handed down 10D.
NOT RECOMMENDED!

Reviewer: Tony Cruz,
I purchased this flash and after taking numerous pics I noticed that the flash was not synchronized with the camera prompting my pics to appear dark. I would have to snap the shot three times before I would get a clear bright pic. I sent it back and was sent another. So far the flash appears to work ok, however I have to struggle to remove the batteries. I would not recommend this flash to anyone.
